Autonomous Underwater Vehicle

Status: Completed B.E. Capstone Project (Aug 2015 - May 2016)

Objective:

This project of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle aimed at developing a low-cost underwater vehicle which is able to submerge, travel certain distance under the water and surface again. It aimed at collecting the information through a camera and simultaneously transmit it to the base station wirelessly.

Project Work:​

​

  • Conceptualized low-cost technology to achieve neutral buoyancy.

  • Designed first CAD of underwater vehicle body. 

  • Performed competitive cost analysis.

  • Reiterated the design to make changes in component location to achieve quicker stability underwater.

  • Fabricated the AUV body and tested rigorously to ensure water-proof interior.

  • Programmed micro-controller (Arduino), BLDC motors, Xbee transmitter-receiver and interfaced camera.
